Dear Parents and Carers of Year 7

RE: Enrichment Week : Tuesday 15th July – Year 7 visit to Historic Greenwich

I am delighted to inform you that your son/daughter will have the opportunity to attend a cultural capital visit to the Greenwich Park area on Tuesday 15th July. This educational visit is designed to provide an enrichment opportunity beyond the classroom where students can appreciate the history of British and global maritime movement, science and astronomy, visit the Royal Greenwich Park and see the Cutty Sark.

Visit Details:

Date: Tuesday 15th July 2025
Arrival Time: Students should arrive at school at the normal time of 8:20am and line up inside the MUGA sports area at the front of the academy.
Travel: Students will be walking under full supervision from Sir Geoffrey Leigh Academy staff to travel from Dartford train station from around 9:30am to Maze Hill Station, and then walking to Greenwich Park.
Lunch: Students need to bring a packed lunch. Any student entitled to free school meals can collect their lunch from the restaurant between 8:00am – 8.20am.
Return Time: Students will walk under full supervision back to Sir Geoffrey Leigh Academy by 3:45 pm. If you give permission for your child to be dismissed from Dartford Station, please indicate this on Parent Pay
consent.

Please ensure your child is dressed in their full academy uniform and has a suitable bag to carry their lunch and any personal items. Students may wear trainers for comfort. It is also advisable for students to bring a bottle of water, suncream, hat, and a lightweight raincoat for all eventualities. Any necessary medications must be indicated on Parent Pay.

This visit promises to be an enriching experience, allowing students to explore significant historical contributions which have shaped British culture and history, plus exhibits that will enhance their understanding and appreciation of the wider world around them; in-keeping with the MYP principles of education.

We kindly invite families to consider making a voluntary contribution of £7.50 to help subsidise the cost of travel. These contributions will help us to provide enriching experiences for all students. Please note that this contribution is completely voluntary and not a condition for participation. Every contribution, regardless of the amount, is deeply appreciated and directly benefits our students. If you choose to contribute, please access Parent Pay to make a payment in the usual way by Friday 20th June by midday.

You must log into Parent Pay to complete permissions for your child to attend, and you may give permission for your child to be collected or walk home from Dartford train station.. The facility to make your voluntary contribution is via the Parent Pay portal.

If you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to contact Ms Bonthron, visit leader.
