Dear Parents / Carers

RE: Year 11 Examinations

As we approach the summer examination period, we would like to remind all students and parents/carers of the importance of being fully prepared for every exam. Ensuring students arrive on time and equipped with the correct materials is essential to their success.

Essential Equipment

All students must bring the following items to every exam, in a clear pencil case:

  • Black pen(s) (more than one is advisable)
  • HB pencil
  • Ruler
  • Eraser
  • Pencil sharpener
  • Highlighter
  • Protractor and compass
  • CASIO Scientific calculator (with no lid)
  • Clear water bottle (label removed)

It is vital that students have access to a CASIO scientific calculator, particularly for maths, geography and science-based examinations, where this will support their ability to access the full range of questions.

Attendance

Please be reminded that attendance at all exams is compulsory. If a student does not attend an exam they will not have the opportunity to resit and will receive zero marks for that paper. Students have worked incredibly hard throughout the 5 years at secondary school, and it is essential that they are present to demonstrate their knowledge and secure the grades they deserve. We strongly encourage every student to see their exam attendance as the final step in achieving the success they have been working toward.

Prohibited Items

The following items must not be brought into any examination room under any circumstances:

  • Mobile phones
  • Watches of any kind (including smartwatches and traditional watches)
  • Headphones, AirPods, or other audio devices
  • Laptops, tablets, or internet-connected devices
  • Any music players (e.g., iPods, MP3 players)
  • Revision notes, papers, or any written material
  • Jackets, coats, or bags
  • Food or drink (other than water in a clear, unlabelled bottle)
  • Correction fluid or pens (e.g., Tippex)

Possession of any prohibited item, even unintentionally, can result in serious consequences including disqualification, in accordance with JCQ regulations.

We appreciate your support in ensuring that all students are fully prepared and understand the importance of adhering to examination rules. If you have any queries or require further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours faithfully
Mr Kevin Brewer | Head of Seacole College (kevin.brewer@sgla.latrust.org.uk)
