Dear Parent/Carer of Year 9

Re: Year 9 Parent-Teacher Meeting – Wednesday 11th February 2026

On Wednesday 11th February 2026, you will have the opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with their subject teachers during a Year 9 parent/teacher meeting. All meetings are onsite at Sir Geoffrey Leigh Academy and will run between 2:30pm to 7:00pm. Parent/teacher meetings are a vitally important part of your child’s education where we continue to work in partnership to support them towards achieving success. We expect all parents/carers to attend this important event, but please do inform your child’s college if there is an unavoidable issue which may affect your attending.

At this stage in Year 9, we would expect your child to be confident working within the framework of the Middle Years Programme’s assessment model, including the Approaches to Learning and the Learner Profile. This is your opportunity to discuss your child’s progress to date. Your child is expected to attend the appointments with you at the academy, in full uniform. We anticipate that all parents/carers will attend this important event.

The appointments take place between 2:30pm and 7:00pm and are five minutes long. Time slots are self booked through the My Child at School App (MCAS) and are on a first come, first served basis. Bookings will open on Monday 26th January at 12:00pm and will close on Wednesday 11th February at 12:00pm. Your child’s Head and Assistant Head of College are available to meet with you in the event you and/or they have concerns with your child. A member of the SEND team will also be available and will contact you for an appointment, if necessary, for appointments between 2.30pm and 5:00pm.

SAVE THE DATE: Year 9 GCSE Options Evening is Wednesday 25th February 2025 between 4:45pm – 7:00pm. Further information will be communicated shortly.

When booking appointments if you experience any problems please email: gemma.sharp@sgla.latrust.org.uk

We are looking forward to welcoming you and we hope that you find the meetings informative.

Yours faithfully

Mr Stephenson | Deputy Principal
