RE: appointment of a new Principal at Sir Geoffrey Leigh Academy
As you know, Miss Roberts is serving as Interim Principal at Sir Geoffrey Leigh Academy (SGLA) this academic year. The academy is making excellent progress, building on all of its previous success.
Following a national recruitment search, I am delighted to say that we have made a permanent appointment to the Principal post at SGLA starting in September. The successful candidate is Ms Gurjit Kaur Shergill, currently Principal at Leigh Academy Ebbsfleet.
Ms Gurjit Kaur Shergill is a very experienced school leader and led her academy last year through an Ofsted inspection in which inspectors considered it to be outstanding in all areas. I know she is looking forward to introducing herself to staff, parents and students very soon. We are extremely confident that SGLA will continue to thrive under her leadership.
