Dear Parents and Carers

Re: Culture Day

We are delighted to announce that Wednesday 9th July 2025 will be our annual Culture Day – a celebration of diversity and the many languages, identities and traditions represented within our academy community. As part of our commitment to our IB Programmes, this day encourages students to explore intercultural understanding and reflect on what it means to be global citizens.

Our school motto, “Opening Minds to Success,” guides everything we do. We believe that success extends beyond academic achievement – it includes the ability to embrace and appreciate difference, develop empathy and thrive in diverse settings. Culture Day is a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase the richness of their own backgrounds or respectfully represent a culture they are interested in learning more about.

All students are invited to wear non-uniform, which will encompass traditional or culturally inspired dress on this day. They may choose to represent their heritage or explore another culture thoughtfully. If your child does not choose to wear non-uniform inspired by their culture, they must follow academy uniform expectations. Outfits must remain in line with the school’s dress code and be appropriate for a full school day.

There will also be an opportunity for group photos during tutor time in college rooms. This will capture the vibrancy and unity of our diverse community.

Throughout the day, students will take part in a range of activities within their lessons and tutor groups to deepen their awareness of world cultures and languages. They will therefore need their Chromebooks and school equipment. We hope this will promote curiosity, respect, and a shared sense of community among all learners.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us open minds and celebrate every student’s individualism and culture.

Yours faithfully

Thomas Hurth | Director of Learning – MFL
