Dear Parents and Carers

Re: Sir Geoffrey Leigh Academy – New Canopy build

We are pleased to inform you that from Monday 24th November, construction will begin on a new outdoor dining restaurant canopy facility, located at the rear of the current internal restaurant building. Once completed, this fully enclosed space will accommodate approximately 250 students, providing a warm, calm, and supervised environment for all to enjoy their lunch.

This expansion project has been carefully planned with the safety and safeguarding of students as our highest priority. During academy hours, all construction and project management staff on site will operate in full compliance with the required health, safety, and safeguarding procedures to ensure the project is delivered safely and effectively.

The build is expected to continue until February Half Term, with the new dining area scheduled to open from Module 4. We are excited about this development and look forward to offering students increased dining capacity alongside our existing restaurant areas, the Quad picnic tables, and current canopy spaces.

As always, we continue to reinforce high standards of behaviour during break and lunchtimes. Students are expected to show respect and responsibility by sitting while eating, maintaining a calm atmosphere, using bins for their litter, and helping to keep our shared spaces clean and tidy. These routines support a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone in our academy community.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours faithfully
