Dear Parents and Carers

RE: End of Module 1

As we reach the end of Module 1, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and partnership as we reflect on what has been a positive and purposeful start to the academic year.

Our students have settled exceptionally well into the routines of academy life. Year 7 and Year 12 have embraced the challenges and opportunities of their new environments, while Year 10 have begun their GCSE journey with maturity and determination. Year 8 and Year 9 continue to thrive through the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) by developing independence, curiosity, and global awareness. Meanwhile, our Year 11 and Year 13 students have shown good levels of focus and resilience as they began their mock examinations.

Throughout this module, students have demonstrated a strong commitment to learning and have engaged positively with our high standards and expectations. Their conduct, punctuality, attendance, and pride in uniform reflect the shared values that underpin our academy: Respect, Resilience, and Responsibility. These form the foundations of a supportive and aspirational community where every learner can succeed.

This term has also been rich in cultural celebration, embodying the inclusive ethos of our International Baccalaureate World School. Our Diwali celebrations, enhanced by a live performance of traditional music from Dartford Gurdwara provided a wonderful opportunity to explore the themes of light, unity, and hope that transcend cultures and faiths. Looking ahead, we will gather as one community for our Service of Remembrance on Tuesday 11 November at 11:00am, honouring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in global conflicts to protect the freedoms we hold dear.

We were also delighted to welcome over 1,200 visitors to our Year 6 Open Events, showcasing the academy’s vibrant learning culture, passionate staff, and inspiring facilities. Our students were outstanding ambassadors, embodying the very best of Sir Geoffrey Leigh Academy. We now look forward to welcoming the next generation of Attenborough students at our Post 16 Open Event on Wednesday 12 November 2025.

As always, we encourage parents and carers to make use of the resources and information available via our academy website, including details on the curriculum, safeguarding and wellbeing, and academy policies, including uniform standards. To help you stay informed and engaged, please continue to use the My Child at School (MCAS) app. Should you encounter any difficulties accessing the system or need to update your contact details, our College Offices will be happy to assist.

Finally, we would like to extend my sincere gratitude for your ongoing trust and support. Together, as a community of students, families and the academy, we continue to ‘open minds to success’.

We look forward to another exciting and successful module ahead. I will communicate with you before we return on Monday 3rd November with any key updates ahead of module two.

Yours faithfully

Mr Stephenson | Deputy Principal
