Re: Key Stage 4 Sparx Reader
We are writing to inform you about an exciting new resource that will significantly support your child’s revision for their GCSE English Literature set texts: Sparx Reader.
As your child progresses through Key Stage 4, the demands of the GCSE English Literature curriculum will naturally increase, particularly regarding their understanding and recall of the set texts they are studying. To help them prepare effectively for their future exams, we are pleased to announce that we will be providing all Year 10 and Year 11 students with access to Sparx Reader.
Sparx Reader is an innovative online platform designed to enhance students’ comprehension and retention of literary texts. It offers a range of engaging features, including:
- Digital copies of the set texts: Providing convenient access to the books they need to study.
- Interactive quizzes and activities: Allowing students to test their understanding of plot, characters, themes, and key quotations in an engaging way.
- Personalised learning: Adapting to each student’s progress and identifying areas where they may need additional support.
- Progress tracking: Enabling students and teachers to monitor their understanding and identify areas for focus.
We believe that Sparx Reader will be an invaluable tool in helping your child to:
- Develop a deeper understanding of their set texts.
- Improve their recall of key information and quotations.
- Manage their revision more effectively.
- Work independently on their learning.
Your child is able to access Sparx Reader through their academy Google account and will be shown how to access and utilise the platform effectively during their English lessons. We encourage you to discuss this new resource with your child and support them in using it regularly as part of their revision routine. They will be required to reach a target of 300 Sparx Reader Points per week and be rewarded with both R1 and L1 points.
