Qualification Aims and Objectives

This course explores how management and administration roles support organisations across sectors. You’ll study business context, project and change management, quality and compliance as well as business behaviours. Over two years you’ll gain technical knowledge and workplace experience to apply skills in real business environments.

Objectives

  • Develop a deep understanding of how organisations operate, including governance, stakeholders and the external environment.
  • Apply project-, change- and improvement-management concepts to real business situations.
  • Build analytical, decision-making and communication skills within professional administration and leadership contexts.
  • Consider ethical, social, cultural and environmental factors affecting business operations and people.
  • Prepare for further study or careers in business support, team leadership, management, quality and compliance, and wider administrative functions.
  • Education, assisting roles and education support services.

Course Outline

The T Level in Management and Administration is a two-year Level 3 qualification combining classroom learning with an industry placement.
The core component covers:

  • Business context: organisations, stakeholders, sector, and governance
  • People: communication, team-working, diversity, and professional behaviours
  • Quality and compliance: standards, regulation, risk management, and continuous improvement
  • Project and change management: planning, delivering change, and monitoring outcomes

The course includes a minimum of 315 hours (approximately 45 days) in an industry placement, providing hands-on experience in a relevant employer setting.

Assessment

  • External assessment: Two written exams covering core knowledge and an employer-set project applying learning to a real-world scenario
  • Occupational specialism assessment: Practical tasks and assignments demonstrating applied skills
  • Placement performance: Assessed through professional behaviour, competence, and contribution during the industry placement

The T Level is equivalent to 3 A Levels. Students do not study other qualifications alongside this.
